What should we expect in 2011? I think we should expect radical new technology. Personally I would like to be able to speak into my telephone and create a blog post. That would probably lead to some transcendental, meta-babble.
Ok, wait. That’s actually what I’m doing now.
How about hovering, hands free video cameras? Better yet I would like a floating, 3 dimensional, fixed focal length, holographic display. I would also like my car to drive itself to my destination safely. This, of course, leads to the need for more efficient fuel at lower prices!
All in all I’m pretty stoked about all of the technology advances we’ve had over the last decade. Of course to listen to the history channel we all owe this to alien technology captured in roswell back in 1947.
On the contrary I believe we are plenty intelligent enough to create much greater technology than we have today.
Back in 1980 who would have thought we would be able to dictate an instant publication to the entire globe to our phone? Yet here I sit on the first day of 2011 doing just that. And what about animals? Can we not now speak to them?
Never mind, wrong movie.
I’m pretty sure in 2011 we can expect Microsoft to reinvent everything, Apple to copy everything and lock it down, and open source networks just to be completely ignored. That’s a joke by the way! Sort of.
As long as greed avarice exist we will face the same challenges we a face for millenium. the naive will continue to be dominated, those partly aware will continue to be frustrated, and those who make the rules will continue to confuse the whole issue.
The complete cure for cancer exist. Why don’t you be the one to find it?
The ability for everyone to create the energy to run their own automobiles exist. Why don’t you be the one to find it?
The ability for everyone to grow enough food to feed their family with some leftover is already exist. Why don’t you be the one to empower them?
The human race is highly evolved and intelligent. The idea we should rely on alien technology is absurd! You may hold within your own mind the ability to create vast change. Reach for the stars! But don’t just reach, don’t give up until you touch them, until you hold them, until you embrace them!
If you are a creator of technology listen to what the people want. Then give them not only what they want but more!
Atoms are made up of particles. Particles have components, too. The one who learns to dominate the smallest components dominates the universe. Maybe that person is you.
Do you know if we are the halfway point between macro and micro? Are we quantum beings?
I challenge you as scientists, doctors, engineers, and couch potatoes to make 2011 a year of amazing discovery and unequal advancement. Even if you do not have the technical capabilities you may have the idea that changes the future. Don’t keep it to yourself!
